Fun compatibility test: combines two names and computes a percentage match using a classic playground algorithm.

Formula

Reduce digit-pair counts of LOVES letters in combined names → 1–99 %

How to use

  1. 1Type your name using letters only.
  2. 2Type your partner’s name the same way.
  3. 3Read the instant score, level and message.
  4. 4Try variations such as nicknames, middle names and full names.
  5. 5Compare two spellings to see how sensitive the algorithm is.

About this calculator

Two names go in, one percentage comes out. This Love Calculator is the digital version of the classic notebook game: it joins both names, counts how often the letters in “LOVES” appear, and reduces those counts to a friendly 1 to 99% match. It exists to make you smile, not to plan a wedding.

Formula explained

Four stages. First, combine both names and push to uppercase, stripping anything that is not A to Z. Second, count how often each letter in L, O, V, E and S appears. Third, reduce the five counts by pairing values from the outside inward until two digits remain. Fourth, read those digits as a percentage and keep it inside 1 to 99 so you never get a trivial 0% or 100%. No units are involved, only the exact spelling you type.

Worked example

Combined HARRYHERMIONE gives L=0, O=1, V=0, E=2, S=0. Those counts pair and reduce to a two-digit result such as 78%, landing in the Great Match band. Change a letter and the score changes, which is the game itself.

Tips & notes

  • First names give a quick laugh, full names make a bigger calculation.
  • Famous couples are reliable conversation starters.
  • Two spellings of one name can give very different scores.
  • The healthiest takeaway: real relationships are built by talking, not by counting letters.
